First of all, we would like to offer you our sincere condolences. We know there is a lot to arrange at this difficult time. We will make the cancellation of the card as simple as possible for you. You only have to send a copy of the death certificate, and then deal with any remaining balance.
Please note: To cancel a deceased cardholder’s ABN AMRO MeesPierson (Gold) Card, please contact the cardholder’s private banker.

Dealing with the balance
When we receive your notification, we will send you a letter about the balance. There are three possibilities:
There is an outstanding amount
If there is an outstanding amount, this will have to be paid. This is usually only possible when it is clear who has accepted the inheritance, and under what conditions. If you manage banking affairs for the deceased prior to this, it can mean that you accept the inheritance. Consult a financial advisor first.
There is no outstanding amount
If there is no outstanding amount, you will receive a confirmation that the card has been cancelled.
There is a positive balance
If there is a positive balance, we will transfer it back to the deceased’s bank account, and send a confirmation that the card has been cancelled.
An Extra Card will work for another 3 months
If there is an Extra Card associated with the main card, it can be used for another 3 months. The Extra Card will then expire and the Extra Card holder can apply for a new card.
